Creating Perfect Popcorn Recipes

By Joseph Then

Popcorn is something we all have at least tried one time or another in our life. Many people say popcorn is their favorite snack. In fact, popcorn is rated as one of the leading snack foods in the world. So it is no surprise that people everywhere are searching for perfect popcorn recipes that will give them that perfect batch of popcorn for their snacking enjoyment.

Perfect popcorn recipes start with understanding popcorn at its root. Basically, to get good popcorn you must have even heat distribution and the ability to completely expose each kernel to the heat so that the moisture in the kernel can heat up and explode it into a popcorn flake.

Here's what you need to begin:

A pot with a lid - make sure it fits the size of burner you are using so the whole bottom of the pot gets heat exposure. You also want to choose a tall pot so you can easily shake the finished popcorn to distribute butter or other topping flavors evenly. The best choices would be a steel or copper pot since they will distribute the heat evenly and hold it well. Popcorn - There are many varieties you can choose from. Choose whatever suits you best. Oil - Oil can really contribute to the taste of the final product. Most often people use whatever they have on hand. If you are looking for the best then use coconut oil. It is said to add good flavor to popcorn.

Now onto the actual popping:

Step one: Start by adding oil to the pot. You want just enough to cover the bottom. Do not put too thick of a layer. You are not frying the corn, just heating it up.

Step two: Put the pot on the heat and add a few kernels. You can also go ahead and put on the lid.

You are going to be waiting to hear those kernels pop so you know that the pot is hot enough.

Step three: Once the pot is ready you will add in a layer of kernels to cover the bottom of the pan. You should, at this point, begin shaking the pan occasionally to prevent burning.

Step Four: You should have all your popcorn popped within a few minutes. Remove it form the burner and add in your butter, salt or whatever you are adding to it. Put the lid back on and shake the pot to distribute what you just added.

Step Five: Enjoy the fruits of your labor.
